Painting a portrait of promising portent, Jordan Masters’ ascendance is in full swing.
Painting a self-portrait of promising portent, Jordan Masters’ ascendance is in full swing. Deeply embedded within Birmingham’s flourishing underground scene, his devotion to the deeper strands of dub minimal is an ever-present reminder of the great potential lying within the city’s vast musical landscape.
A trusted resident for both Undergrowth and Concept 101, this ambitious crate-digger and vinyl enthuse is just getting started. A proud purveyor of all things stripped-back minimal with a hint of UKG, Jordan’s signature blend of warm basslines and tight percussive cuts has been shaped by a wealth of cutting-edge labels and artists. From Zest 4 Life Records to Infuse, Tuff Jam to Groove Skool as well as Sweely and house legend, Kerri Chandler, his sound has been well sculpted with textures from minimal, UKG and house.
Dedicated to his musical craft, Jordan took his trade to the party capital, Ibiza, to further establish his name. Here, his persistence was rewarded with warm-up opportunities for such respected selectors as Seb Zito, Apollonia, Clive Henry as well as Kenny Dope at Eden Ibiza. In addition, he was made Concept 101 resident whom he appeared for several times at Octan Ibiza throughout 2019. Furthermore, he also boasts performances across Birmingham including Lab 11, The Mill and Mama Roux plus appearances in London, Northampton and more.
In the studio, Jordan has carved out his own distinct soundscapes under the groove-driven, micro-house umbrella - uncompromising dubbed-out rhythms and grooves maintaining the typical raw 90’s textures which keeps the body moving. His first release, ‘Axel’, came out at the start of 2020 via Levels Records on their first VA release.
With two residencies under his belt and a jam-packed 2020 diary in-store, the turn of this new decade sets Jordan up for his biggest year to date.
